Cancel or Delete an Event (Providers)
Remove a scheduled event from your calendar — cancel events with pre-registrations, or permanently delete those without.
👤 This article is for providers. Looking for the instructor version? See Cancel an Event (Instructors).
When you need to remove a scheduled event from your calendar, you have two options: cancelling the event or permanently deleting it. The right action depends on whether the event has pre-registered attendees. This article walks you through both options and explains when each one applies.
⚠️ Warning: Deleting an event is permanent and cannot be undone. All associated event details will be permanently removed. If the event has pre-registered attendees, deletion is not available — you'll need to cancel instead.
When to cancel vs. delete
Cancel an event when:
- The event has pre-registered attendees (required — deletion is not available in this case)
- You want to retain a record of the event for reporting or audit purposes
- The event was promoted publicly and you want a cancellation notice displayed to anyone who visits the registration page
Delete an event when:
- The event has no pre-registered attendees
- You no longer need any record of the event (for example, a scheduling error or a duplicate)
Before you begin
- You must be logged in with a provider account that has permission to manage events.
- Check whether the event has pre-registered attendees — this determines whether you can delete or only cancel.
- If you intend to cancel an event with registered attendees, be prepared to communicate the change to them outside the platform if needed.
How to cancel or delete an event
- Sign in to www.ceuevents.com using your provider account credentials.
- Click on the Events menu.
- Locate the specific event you wish to cancel or delete, and click on it.
- Click on the Menu button, represented by three horizontal dots.

- Select the Edit option from the menu.
- Scroll down until you see the Cancel Event or Delete button.
- If the event has pre-registered attendees, only the Cancel Event button will be available.
- If the event has no pre-registered attendees the Delete button will be available.
- Confirm the action when prompted.
What happens next
If you cancelled the event:
- The event status changes to Cancelled.
- A cancellation banner is displayed on the event's registration page, informing anyone who visits (including visitors arriving from external promotions) that the event has been cancelled.
- Pre-registered attendees will see a Cancelled label next to the event on their dashboard.
- The event record is retained for reporting and audit purposes.
If you deleted the event:
- The event is permanently removed from your account.
- No record of the event remains in your active event list.
- This action cannot be undone.
📝 Note: Cancelling an event does not automatically notify attendees by email. If you need to inform them directly about the cancellation, we recommend reaching out to them outside the platform.
Troubleshooting
- The Delete button isn't showing — only Cancel Event is available. This means the event has at least one pre-registered attendee. Events with registrations can only be cancelled, not deleted.
- You accidentally deleted an event. Unfortunately, deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. You'll need to recreate the event from scratch.
