Course Website Highlight Image Specifications

Specs and guidelines for the carousel images that appear on your course detail pages.

👤 This article is for providers.

Website Highlight images are the visual centerpiece of your course detail pages on CEU Events. Each course can have up to 7 highlight images, which display as a carousel for attendees browsing your offerings. These images are one of the first impressions attendees form of your program, so quality and consistency matter.

💡 Tip: Your 1st Website Highlight image is also the source for your Event Banner — it gets cropped to 950 × 200 px for use on event registration pages. Plan it as a hero shot that works well in both formats. See Event Banner Image Specifications for banner-specific guidance.

Areas to avoid graphics

CEU Events overlays certain navigation and badging elements on highlight images. To make sure your important visuals aren't covered, keep them away from the following areas. Note that recognized courses have a stricter safe area because of the recognition badge:

Non-recognized courses

Best practices
  • Use high-quality, well-lit photography. Course images are often the first impression attendees form of your program.
  • Keep visual focus in the center. Center your key visuals away from the edges so platform overlays don't cover them.
  • Plan the 1st highlight carefully. It also serves as your Event Banner, so it should work as both a 16:9 hero shot and a 950 × 200 px horizontal crop.
  • Avoid heavy text overlays. Platform overlays (badges, arrows, dots) can collide with your text. Keep text minimal and well clear of the edges.
  • Maintain consistent branding. Use similar lighting, color palette, and style across all your courses for a polished, professional look.
  • Audit images periodically. As your offerings evolve, refresh images so they stay relevant and on-brand.

Troubleshooting

  • Your image looks blurry or pixelated on the live site. Confirm your source image is at least 960 × 540 px. Images smaller than these dimensions will be stretched and lose quality.
  • Your image is rejected for being too large. The 200 kb size limit is strict. Re-export using "Save for Web" at higher compression, or reduce the dimensions slightly before re-exporting.
  • You're not sure how many images to upload. There is no limit but we recommend no more than 7 Website Highlight images per course. The 1st is the primary image (and the source for your Event Banner). Additional highlights act as a gallery/carousel on the course detail page.
