Edit an Attendee's Information (Instructors)

Update attendee details on your event's attendee list, depending on whether the attendee has a CEU Events account or was added ad hoc. slug: edit-an-attendees-information-instructors

🎓 This article is for instructors.

There are times when you need to update an attendee's information on your event — correcting a typo in their email, fixing a misspelled name, or updating their membership/license number for credit reporting. How you do this depends on the type of attendee.

CEU Events recognizes two types of attendees:

  • Attendees with a CEU Events account. These attendees own their own data and manage it from their own attendee account. As an instructor, you can refresh their record on your event after they update their own profile, but you can't directly edit their personal details.
  • Ad hoc attendees. These are attendees you added manually using Manually Add an Attendee. You can edit their information directly since you entered it.

📝 Note: This approach respects attendees' ownership of their own data. Account holders maintain their own profile, which keeps personal data accurate and reduces the chance of conflicting edits across multiple events.

For attendees with a CEU Events account

Account holders manage their personal information themselves. As an instructor, your role is to ask the attendee to update their own record, then refresh their data on your event's attendee list.

  1. Ask the attendee to sign in to www.ceuevents.com and update the necessary information from their own account.
  2. Once they confirm they've made the changes, sign in to your instructor account and open the event.
  3. Locate the attendee on the attendee list and click the Menu (⋯) button next to their name.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Click Submit without making changes — this refreshes the attendee's record with their updated profile information.

The attendee's updated information is now reflected on your event.

For ad hoc attendees (without a CEU Events account)

For attendees you added manually, you can edit their information directly.

  1. Sign in to www.ceuevents.com using your instructor account credentials.
  2. Click on the Events menu.
  3. Locate the event the attendee is on and click into it.
  4. Find the attendee on the attendee list and click the Menu (⋯) button next to their name.
  5. Click Edit.
  6. Update the necessary information.
  7. Click Submit to save the changes.

The attendee's information is now updated.

💡 Tip: If you frequently update an ad hoc attendee's information, encourage them to create a CEU Events account. Once they have one, they own and maintain their profile — and their information stays consistent across every event they attend.

Best practices
  • Verify before editing. Make sure the attendee actually wants their information updated, especially for fields like email address that affect future communications.
  • Encourage account creation. For attendees who participate in multiple events, having their own CEU Events account is much more reliable than maintaining ad hoc records over time.
  • Keep critical fields accurate. Email address, membership/license number, and name all affect credit reporting and certificate delivery. Confirm these are correct before submitting.
  • Don't use editing as a workaround for account issues. If an account holder is having trouble updating their own profile, point them to contact CEU Events support rather than trying to bypass their account.

Troubleshooting

  • You can't edit an account holder's fields directly. This is by design — account holders manage their own data. Ask them to make the change from their own account, then refresh their record on your event using the Edit → Submit workflow described above.
  • An attendee updated their account but the change isn't reflected on your event. Open their record on your attendee list, click Menu (⋯)EditSubmit. This refreshes the data on your event.
  • You edited an ad hoc attendee but the change didn't save. Confirm you clicked Submit at the bottom. If the issue persists, refresh the page or sign out and back in. If still occurring, contact CEU Events support.
  • Still having trouble? Contact CEU Events support and we'll help.
