Find and Copy Your Microsoft Teams Meeting Link (Instructors)
How to copy a Microsoft Teams meeting link so you can add it to the Webinar Link field when scheduling a CEU event.
🎓 This article is for instructors.
When you schedule a webinar event on CEU Events, you'll need to paste your meeting link into the Webinar Link field. If you're using Microsoft Teams to host your webinar, this article shows you how to find and copy that link.
Before you begin
- Create your Teams meeting first, before scheduling your event in CEU Events.
- Make sure the meeting has at least one invitee. Teams treats a meeting with only the organizer as a draft and may not generate a join link until you've added an attendee (even a placeholder, such as your own email address) and clicked Send.
How to copy your Teams meeting link
- Open Microsoft Teams and click the Calendar tab on the left-hand side. (If you don't see the Calendar icon, click the More (…) menu and select Calendar.)
- Find the meeting you want and click it to open the meeting details.
- Open the meeting's options menu — look for Copy join link (sometimes shown as Copy link), or open Details → Show meeting info to find the join link.
- Copy the link. A valid Teams meeting link begins with
https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/.
You can also copy the link from Outlook: open the meeting on your Outlook calendar, then right-click the "Join the meeting now" link in the meeting body and choose Copy Hyperlink.
Add the link to your event
- Paste the copied link into the Webinar Link field on the CEU Events event form. See Schedule a New Event (Instructors).
- Complete the rest of your event details and save.
💡 Tip: Before saving your event, verify the link by pasting it into your browser to confirm it opens the correct meeting. This is the easiest way to make sure you copied the right link.
Best practices
- Create the Teams meeting before scheduling your CEU event. You need the link in hand to complete the Webinar Link field.
- Add at least one invitee in Teams. This ensures the join link is generated and ready to copy.
- Always test the link in a browser. A quick paste-and-check prevents attendees from hitting a broken or wrong link on event day.
Troubleshooting
- You don't see a "Copy join link" option. Teams menus vary by version and meeting type. Try opening Details → Show meeting info on the calendar event, or copy the link from the meeting invite in Outlook instead.
- There's no join link on your meeting yet. Teams may not generate a link until the meeting has an invitee. Add at least one attendee (or a placeholder like your own email), click Send, then reopen the meeting and copy the link.
- The link doesn't open the right meeting (or doesn't work). Re-copy the link, making sure you captured the full URL beginning with
https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/. Test it in a browser before saving your event. - Still having trouble? Contact CEU Events support and we'll help. For Teams-specific issues, contact Microsoft support.
