On-Demand CEU Courses
Browse and complete continuing education courses on your own schedule — earn credit at your own pace, with instant certificates and automatic credit reporting.
🧑🎓 This article is for Attendees.
If you need CE credit but can't fit a live event into your schedule — or you simply prefer to learn at your own pace — CEU Events offers a library of on-demand CEU courses you can complete anytime. This article walks you through what on-demand courses are, how they work, and where to find them.
What on-demand courses are
On-demand courses are continuing education courses you can start and complete on your own schedule, with no scheduled date or time. You access them through your CEU Events account, work through the content at your own pace, and earn the same CE credit you'd earn from attending the same course live.
Key benefits of on-demand:
- Complete on your schedule. Available 24/7 — start when it works for you, pause and resume as needed.
- Certificate available within 2 hours. Once you complete the quiz, your Certificate of Completion becomes available in your CEU Events account 2 hours later
- Automatic credit reporting. For organizations that support automatic reporting (such as AIA, IDCEC, AIBC and more), credits are reported by the end of the next business day after completion — same as live events.
- Same credit value as live events. When a course is on-demand, the credit it awards counts the same as the live version for any organization that has approved the course.
Browse on-demand courses
Browse the full on-demand course catalog. Each course's detail page shows:
- Course title, description, and learning objectives
- Number of credits available
- Which organizations recognize the course (AIA, IDCEC, USGBC, CAB, AIBC, and more)
- Instructor information
- Course length
If you're looking specifically for courses approved by a particular organization, you can also browse the full catalog of courses and upcoming events with additional filters.
How on-demand courses work
- Browse and select a course from the on-demand catalog.
- Sign in to your CEU Events account — or create a free Attendee account if you don't have one. See Register and Create Your Free Attendee Account.
- Complete the course content at your own pace. You can pause and return as many times as needed.
- Complete the course quiz at the end. Completing the quiz is required to receive credit — it confirms you've engaged with the material.
- Your certificate becomes available 2 hours after you complete the quiz. Download it from your account — see Retrieve Your Certificate of Completion.
- Credits are reported automatically to applicable organizations by the end of the next business day (for organizations supporting automatic reporting). For self-reporting organizations, use your certificate to submit credit yourself.
💡 Tip: If you have your membership numbers on file in your CEU Events profile (AIA, AIBC, etc.), credit reporting to those organizations is fully automatic. See Add or Update Your Memberships and License Numbers.
When to use on-demand vs. live events
- Use on-demand when you need flexibility, want to fit a course into a specific window of time, or need credit quickly and can't wait for a scheduled live event.
- Use live events when you prefer real-time interaction with an instructor, want to ask questions during the session, or specifically need the community aspect of a live event (such as a lunch-and-learn at a Place).
Both formats earn the same CE credit when the course is approved by your professional organization.
Best practices
- Verify org approvals before starting. Each course's detail page shows which organizations have approved it. Confirm your organization is listed before you invest time.
- Add your membership numbers first. Updating your profile with your AIA, AIBC, or other membership numbers before completing a course ensures credit reporting happens automatically the first time.
- Plan ahead for license renewals. When a renewal deadline is approaching, on-demand courses are often the fastest way to make up needed hours — but starting early gives you more course selection.
- Save certificates after each completion. Even though they're stored in your account, downloading promptly gives you an offline backup for licensing records.
Troubleshooting
- You don't see a Browse button for on-demand courses. Visit www.ceuevents.com/courses?on-demand=1 directly, which filters the courses catalog to on-demand offerings only.
- You finished a course but don't see a certificate. Certificates for on-demand courses become available 2 hours after you complete the quiz. If 2 hours have passed and the certificate still isn't there, refresh your account dashboard. If it still doesn't appear, contact CEU Events support.
- Your credits aren't showing up in your professional org's transcript. Confirm your membership number is correct in your CEU Events profile and that the organization is listed as recognizing the course. For self-reporting orgs (such as USGBC/GBCI), remember that you submit the credit yourself.
- You're not sure if on-demand credits count for your organization. Check the course detail page for the list of recognizing organizations. If your organization isn't listed for that specific course, the on-demand version of that course won't count for your renewal.
