Schedule Events at Approved Places
Once your company is approved by a Places account, prepare your team to request events at any of that account's locations.
👤 This article is for providers whose company has been approved by a Places account. If your company hasn't been approved by a Places account yet, the steps in this article don't yet apply.
The Places feature lets your company offer CEU events at approved external venues. Once your company has been approved by a Places account, your instructors can browse that account's locations and request to schedule events at any of them. This article walks you through how to prepare your courses and instructors so your team can take full advantage of the Places feature.
How the Places feature works
CEU Events uses two account types in the Places hierarchy:
- Places accounts — HQ-level admin accounts (for example, a firm's headquarters) that approve external providers and oversee one or more locations.
- Locations — the individual physical venues that sit under a Places account. Each location has its own manager responsible for day-to-day operations, including event requests at that venue.
📝 Note: Places accounts can see and act on everything their locations can — including approving or denying event requests on behalf of any of their locations.
The Places approval workflow has two layers:
- Provider approval (one-time, at the Places account level). The Places account approves your provider company. Once approved, your instructors can browse all of that Places account's locations from the Places menu.
- Event approval (per-event, at the location level). When an instructor requests to schedule an event at a specific location, the location's manager — or the Places account's HQ admin — reviews the request and either approves or denies it.
How to view the Places that have approved your company
To see which Places accounts have approved your company as an external provider:
- Sign in to www.ceuevents.com using your provider account credentials.
- Click on the Places menu.
- You'll see the list of Places accounts and their locations that have approved your company.
How to prepare your account for Places
Once your company has been approved by a Places account, take these steps so your instructors are ready to request events at any of that account's locations:
- Communicate the workflow to your instructors. Let your team know to check the Places menu regularly for new approved locations, and walk them through how to request an event at a location when they're ready.
How instructors request events at Places locations
Once your account is prepared, instructors can request events at any location belonging to a Places account that has approved your company. The workflow mirrors creating a standard event, with one key addition:
- The instructor starts creating an event as usual.
- They select Event place and choose one of the approved locations from the list.
- They complete the rest of the event details and submit the request.
- The location manager — or the Places account HQ admin — receives the request and either approves or denies it.
If a request is denied, the reviewer is encouraged to include a reason — useful feedback for refining future requests.
💡 Tip: Remind your instructors to check the Places menu frequently. New locations may approve your company at any time (either through their HQ Places account or through the location directly), opening up new event opportunities without warning.
📝 Note: Building strong relationships with both Places HQ admins and location managers leads to more consistent approvals and repeat opportunities. Encourage your instructors to maintain professional communication and respond to denial feedback constructively.
Troubleshooting
- Instructors don't see any approved locations in the Places menu. Confirm that your company has been approved by at least one Places account. If you believe you should be approved at a specific Places account or location but aren't seeing it, reach out to that Places account or location manager directly to confirm approval status.
- A course isn't appearing as an option when an instructor tries to request an event at a location. Confirm the course is Enabled in your Courses menu and that the instructor has access to it. See Manage Instructor Course Access.
- An event request was denied. Review any reason provided by the location manager (or HQ admin) and coordinate with your instructor on next steps. If no reason was given, the instructor or your team can reach out to the location manager directly to discuss.
- Your company isn't showing up as an approved provider at a Places account or location where you expected it to. Approval is handled by the Places account — reach out to them to confirm status. If you believe there's a system issue, contact CEU Events support.
