Use the CEU Events Paperless Attendance Slide
Display the per-event attendance recording slide during your presentation so attendees can self-record and retrieve their certificates.
🎓 This article is for instructors.
The CEU Events Paperless Attendance Slide is the slide displayed at the end of your presentation that lets attendees record their attendance electronically — no paper sign-in sheets required. It displays the unique Event Code for your event, a QR code that directs attendees to the attendance recording page, and clear instructions. The slide replaces traditional sign-in sheets and gives attendees instant access to their certificates and credit reporting.
The Paperless Attendance Slide should be already included at the end of your CEU course presentation. You simply update it with the Event Code for each event you present.

💡 Tip: Pair the Paperless Attendance Slide with the Attendance Recording Guide — display the slide on screen during your presentation, and have printed copies of the Guide on hand for walk-ins or attendees who need step-by-step instructions.
When you'll use the slide
- In-person events: Display the slide on screen during the closing portion of your presentation so attendees can scan and record their attendance from their seats.
- Webinar and Hybrid events: Display the slide on your shared screen so both in-person and remote attendees can capture the Event Code and record their attendance.
Before you begin
- You must be logged in with an instructor account.
- The event you're presenting must already be scheduled in CEU Events so it has an Event Code.
- The Paperless Attendance Slide should already be at the end of your CEU Events presentation. If it's missing, download a fresh copy using the link below.
How to access the slide
The Paperless Attendance Slide is included with your CEU Events content by default — you'll find it at the end of your PowerPoint or Keynote presentation. If you're missing the slide or need a fresh copy:

Save the downloaded slide to your computer and insert it as the final slide of your presentation.
How to update the slide with your Event Code
Before each event, update the Paperless Attendance Slide with the unique Event Code for that specific event:
- Find the Event Code for your event. See Find the Event Code.
- Open your presentation and navigate to the Paperless Attendance Slide (at the end of your deck).
- Replace the placeholder Event Code (shown as XXXX) with your actual Event Code.
- Save your presentation.
⚠️ Important: Each event has a different Event Code. Always update the slide before each presentation — using the wrong code means attendees won't get credit for the right event.
What attendees see and do
When you display the slide at the end of your presentation, attendees will see:
- Your event's unique Event Code displayed prominently on the left.
- A QR code on the right that they can scan with their phone camera.
- The URL www.ceuevents.com/attendance for attendees who prefer to type it in directly.
- Optional download links for the CEU Events mobile app, for attendees who prefer to use the app.
Attendees can choose any of three paths — all lead to the same outcome:
- Scan the QR code with their phone camera, OR visit www.ceuevents.com/attendance directly, OR use the CEU Events mobile app.
- Enter the Event Code displayed on the slide.
- Sign in with their CEU Events attendee account — or create one if they don't have one yet.
- Confirm their attendance.
- Retrieve their certificate instantly. All applicable credit reporting is processed within the next business day.
Explaining the account requirement to attendees
The most common point of attendee confusion is the CEU Events account requirement. Attendees may not realize they need an account to retrieve their certificate, and surprising them with this at the end of your event can leave them frustrated and confused.
Before displaying the Paperless Attendance Slide, take 30 seconds to set expectations. Something like:
"To receive your certificate and credit for this session, you'll need a CEU Events attendee account. If you don't have one yet, don't worry — you can create one in seconds during the next step. Just scan the QR code on the screen (or visit ceuevents.com/attendance), enter the Event Code displayed, and follow the prompts to sign in or create an account. Your certificate will be available immediately."
This small framing step prevents the bulk of post-event support requests about account issues.
Best practices
- Update the Event Code before every presentation. Each event has a unique code, and using the wrong one is the most common attendance reporting mistake.
- Display the slide for at least 2-3 minutes. Give attendees time to scan, navigate the workflow, and confirm their attendance before you wrap up.
- Verbally explain the account requirement. Attendees may not realize they need a CEU Events account — set the expectation before you display the slide.
- Keep the slide visible during Q&A. Attendees often record attendance during questions when they have a moment to look at their phones.
- Have the Attendance Recording Guide available as a backup. For in-person events with walk-ins, printed copies of the Guide provide step-by-step instructions if attendees have trouble with the slide.
Troubleshooting
- The Paperless Attendance Slide is missing from your presentation. Download a fresh copy from the link above and insert it as the final slide. If you're consistently missing the slide across multiple presentations, contact CEU Events support.
- The QR code on the slide isn't working when attendees scan it. The QR code directs to www.ceuevents.com/attendance. Confirm the slide hasn't been modified or the QR replaced. If the issue persists with the original slide, contact CEU Events support.
- Attendees say the Event Code isn't working. Confirm you've updated the slide with the correct Event Code for the event you're presenting. Verify against Find the Event Code.
- Attendees can't create or sign in to their account during the recording process. They may need to use a different email address than one already on file. Direct them to contact CEU Events support for help.
- Still having trouble? Contact CEU Events support and we'll help you get your attendees credited.
