Edit an Event (Instructors)

Modify the details of a scheduled event — date, time, location, course, or other information — before it takes place.

🎓 This article is for instructors.

You can edit any event you've scheduled in CEU Events as long as it hasn't taken place yet. Common reasons to edit include a date change, time adjustment, location update, course swap, or updates to the Invitation Notes. This article walks you through the edit workflow and explains what happens to your Event Invitation Page URL and already-registered attendees when you make changes.

⚠️ Important: If you change the event date, the Event Invitation Page URL will be updated automatically. Attendees who already registered remain on your attendee list and don't need to do anything — but any new invitees you share the OLD URL with won't be able to register. You'll need to retrieve the updated URL and share it with all new invitees. For any other edit (time, location, course, notes), the URL stays the same. See Retrieve an Event Invitation Page URL for how to grab the updated link.

Before you begin
  • You must be logged in with an instructor account.
  • The event you want to edit must not have already taken place.
  • Have the updated event details ready (new date, time, location, etc.) before you start.
How to edit an event
  1. Sign in to www.ceuevents.com using your instructor account credentials.
  2. Click on the Events menu.
  3. Locate the event you want to edit and click on it.
  4. Click the Menu (⋯) button.
  5. Select Edit from the menu.
  6. Update the fields you need to change.
  7. Click Submit to save your changes.

Your event details are now updated.

What happens after you edit

When you edit an event:

  • Already-registered attendees stay on your attendee list. They don't need to re-register, even if event details change.
  • The Event Code remains the same. Your Paperless Attendance Slide doesn't need to be updated — the same Event Code applies before and after your edits.
  • The Event Invitation Page URL changes only if the date changes. All other edits — time, location, course title, Invitation Notes — leave the URL untouched.
  • If the date changed, re-share the updated URL with anyone who received the OLD URL but hadn't yet registered. Already-registered attendees are unaffected and don't need anything new.
Best practices
  • Edit as early as possible. The earlier you finalize details, the less risk you have of attendees registering with outdated info or showing up at the wrong time or place.
  • Communicate date changes proactively. If you've already shared the Event Invitation Page URL with prospective attendees or marketing channels, send out the updated URL after a date change so new registrations route correctly.
  • Verify all details before clicking Submit. Date, time, location, course — double-check each field. Small typos can lead to attendee confusion.
  • Consider canceling and rescheduling for major changes. If your event is changing so significantly that it's effectively a different event (different course, different venue, different audience), it might be cleaner to cancel and create a new one rather than editing.

Troubleshooting

  • You can't find the Edit option in the menu. The Edit option appears for events that haven't yet taken place. If the event date has passed, edits aren't available — contact CEU Events support if you need to update something on a past event.
  • You submitted edits but the changes aren't showing up. Try refreshing the page or signing out and back in. If the issue persists, contact CEU Events support.
  • You changed the date and now you're not sure which URL to use. Retrieve the updated Event Invitation Page URL from the event — see Retrieve an Event Invitation Page URL. Share the new URL with all new invitees; already-registered attendees don't need anything new.
  • Still having trouble? Contact CEU Events support and we'll help.
