Update the Instructor on the Event

Reassign a scheduled event from one instructor to another without cancelling it.

👤 This article is for providers. Only provider accounts can reassign an event to a different instructor.

Sometimes you need to reassign a scheduled event to a different instructor — for example, when the originally assigned instructor is unavailable, has left your organization, or when you're balancing workload across your team. This article walks you through how to update the instructor on an existing event without cancelling and rescheduling it.

Before you begin

  • You must be logged in with a provider account that has permission to manage events.
  • The new instructor must already be added to your account and have an Active status. See Add an Instructor.
  • The new instructor must have access to the course associated with the event.
  • We recommend notifying the new instructor in advance so they're aware of the assignment.

How to update the instructor on the event

  1. Sign in to www.ceuevents.com using your provider account credentials.
  2. Click on the Events menu.
  3. Locate the specific event you wish to update, and click on it.
  4. Click on the Menu button, represented by three horizontal dots.

  5. Select the Edit option from the menu.
  6. Click on the Instructor field and select the new instructor you would like to reassign this event to.
  7. When you're finished, click Submit to save the changes.

What happens next

Once you submit the change, the event is immediately reassigned to the new instructor. The event will appear under their account, and they will be able to make further edits to the event if necessary. The previously assigned instructor will no longer have access to the event in their account.

📝 Note: We recommend informing the newly assigned instructor about the change so they're aware of the assignment. Once the new instructor sees the event under their account, they can make edits to event details if needed.

Troubleshooting

  • The instructor you want isn't appearing in the dropdown. They may not have access to the course associated with this event, or their status may not be Active. Update their course access or confirm their activation status, then try again.
  • The previous instructor still sees the event in their account. Have them refresh their browser or sign out and back in. If the event still appears, contact CEU Events support.
