How CEU Events handles your AIA Learning Units (LUs) — credit requirements, automatic reporting, and how to set up your account.
🧑🎓 This article is for Attendees who are AIA members.
If you're an AIA member, where applicable, CEU Events automatically reports your Learning Units to AIA when you attend a credit-eligible event — provided your AIA membership number is in your profile. This article explains your AIA credit requirements, how reporting works, and how to set up your account so credits flow correctly.
Your AIA credit requirements
AIA members are required to complete continuing education credits, referred to as Learning Units (LUs):
- 18 LUs total per reporting period
- At least 12 of those LUs must be Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW) credits
The remaining 6 LUs can come from any AIA-approved course.
How CEU Events reports your AIA credits
AIA requires providers to report attendance directly to AIA — you don't self-report. CEU Events handles this for you automatically when:
- Your AIA membership number is on file in your CEU Events profile.
- You're marked as 'Attended' at an AIA-approved event.
- Provider grants as access to their CES Provider account.
Credits are reported by the end of the next business day after the event. You'll see them in your AIA transcript shortly after.
How to set up automatic AIA reporting
- Sign in to your CEU Events account at www.ceuevents.com.
- Update your profile by selecting Architect, then AIA, and entering your AIA membership number.
- Save your profile.
From now on, when you attend any AIA-approved event on CEU Events and are marked as attended, your LUs will be reported to AIA automatically. For step-by-step guidance, see Add or Update Your Memberships and License Numbers.
Self-reporting and certificates
You can use the Certificate of Completion that CEU Events generates after each event for submission to state licensing boards when needed.
⚠️ Important: Already approved AIA courses cannot be self-reported to AIA. If a course is on the AIA-approved list, the provider must report attendance — that's what CEU Events does automatically for AIA-approved events on the platform.

Best practices
- Enter your AIA membership number before your first event. This ensures credits are reported automatically from your very first AIA-approved attendance.
- Keep your profile current. If your AIA membership status changes or your member number is updated, refresh your CEU Events profile so reporting continues smoothly.
- Plan your HSW vs. elective credits. With 12 of your 18 LUs required to be HSW, balancing course selection throughout the year keeps you on track.
Troubleshooting
- Your LUs aren't showing up on your AIA transcript. Allow up to one business day after the event. If credits don't appear after that, confirm your AIA membership number is correct in your CEU Events profile and that you were marked as 'Attended.' If both are correct, contact CEU Events support.
- You attended an event before adding your AIA membership number. Update your profile, then contact CEU Events support — we can help with previously attended events.
- You attended an event but the course wasn't AIA-approved. Not every course on CEU Events is AIA-approved. Check the course details on the registration page or the list of AIA-approved events before registering.
- You're not sure if a course qualifies for HSW credit. Check the course details on the registration page or your certificate of completion.
