Best Practices for Location Accounts

A four-step playbook for coordinating successful events at your Location — from confirming the provider through promoting the registration link.

📍 This article is for Locations.

CEU Events Places gives Location managers the tools to coordinate with providers and host CE events on-site. This article walks you through the four-step playbook for setting up a successful event, plus the practical tips that turn a confirmed event into a well-attended one.

Before you begin
  • You need an active Location account. If you haven't activated yet, see Activating Your Location Account.
  • Know which providers your Places admin has approved. Your Places admin controls which providers can request events at your Location. If you have a specific provider in mind, confirm they're on the approved list. See Approving Providers.
The four-step playbook

The full lifecycle from "we want to host an event" to "the event is on the calendar" follows four steps:

1. Verify provider enrollment on CEU Events

Before arranging an event, confirm the provider is on the CEU Events platform. You can browse the public list of providers. If a provider you'd like to host isn't yet on CEU Events, encourage them to subscribe so they can request events at your Location.

2. Ask the instructor to request an event at your Location

Once you've confirmed the provider is active on CEU Events and approved by your Places admin, ask the instructor to submit an event request for the specific date, time, and course you'd like to host. Instructors can follow Schedule Events at Approved Places (Instructors) for the steps on their side.

3. Accept the event request

Once the instructor submits the request, you'll receive an email notification right away. Sign in to your Location account, review the request, and approve it. Acceptance confirms the event details and solidifies the booking. See Managing Requests for Places Accounts.

4. Access and share the event invitation link

Once you approve the request, the event appears under your Events menu with all its details — including the link to the registration page. Share that link on your website, social media, or in email newsletters to boost attendance and visibility. See Retrieve an Event Invitation Page URL.

Additional best practices
  • Promote the event early. Share the registration page link as soon as possible after approving the request. Earlier promotion means more sign-ups, better word-of-mouth, and stronger turnout.
  • Confirm logistics before the event. Once the event is on your calendar, follow up with the instructor on practical details — parking, room setup, AV needs, expected attendance, and any materials they'll be bringing or expecting from you.
  • Plan for a smooth arrival experience. A clean sign-in process, accessible parking, and clear signage to your space make a real difference in attendee satisfaction — especially for first-time visitors to your Location.
  • Build relationships with providers and instructors. A good first event is the easiest path to a second one. After a successful event, let the provider know you'd be open to hosting more.
  • Track what works. Note which course topics drew the best attendance, which providers brought the most engaged audiences, and which time slots fit your space well. Over time, this becomes a deliberate calendar strategy rather than a series of one-off requests.
  • Coordinate with your Places admin if you'd like to host a provider who isn't yet on the approved list, or if you notice patterns worth sharing across multiple Locations.

Troubleshooting

  • You can't find a provider you'd like to host on CEU Events. They may not be subscribed yet. Encourage them to visit www.ceuevents.com to learn more, or contact CEU Events support for help connecting them with the right team.
  • A provider is on CEU Events but isn't able to request events at your Location. Your Places admin hasn't approved them yet. Coordinate with your Places admin to add them to the approved list. See Approving Providers.
  • You didn't receive an email notification for an incoming request. Check your spam folder, and confirm the email address on your Location account is one you actively monitor. Update your contact information if needed.
  • You want to host a specific course but it's not showing up in the provider's available offerings. Only courses reviewed and recognized by CEU Events can be requested, which ensures credits will count for state licenses and association memberships. If the course you want isn't available, ask the provider to confirm its review status with CEU Events.
