🎓 This article is for instructors.
Zoom Webinars pair well with CEU Events when you want a structured, registration-based virtual event with detailed attendance reporting. This article walks you through the integration — from setting up your Zoom Webinar through using the Zoom attendance report to mark attendees as Attended in CEU Events.
📝 Note: This guide is specifically for Zoom Webinars, a separate Zoom product from Zoom Meetings. The workflows below rely on Webinar-specific features like registration requirements and attendance reports.
What you'll need
- A Zoom license with the Webinar add-on enabled.
- A CEU Events instructor account.
- The course content you'll be presenting.
Before the event
Step 1: Set up your Zoom Webinar
- Sign in to Zoom and go to Webinars → Schedule Webinar.
- Require registration. This is the key setting that enables accurate attendance reporting later — and we'll show you below how to make it seamless for attendees.
- We recommend enabling Q&A and Practice Session.
- Configure the remaining options based on your preference.
Step 2: Configure additional Zoom settings
Once the webinar is created, edit these sections:
- Invitations — Invite your panelist(s); set Approval to Automatically Approve.
- Branding — Upload your logo and add speaker information.
- Polls — Add polling questions and answers. Polls are highly recommended for attendee engagement.
Step 3: Create your event in CEU Events
- Sign in to www.ceuevents.com using your instructor account credentials.
- Click Events → +Event.
- Set Event Type to Webinar.
- Paste the Zoom Webinar Registration Link into the Webinar Link field.
- In the Invitation Notes field, add something like: "You must register to access the webinar, receive CEU credit, and earn a certificate of completion."
- Complete the rest of the event details and click Submit.
See Schedule a New Event (Instructors) for the full event creation workflow.
Step 4: Promote your event
Send out the CEU Events invitation link and promote your event through your usual channels. The goal is for attendees to register only once — through CEU Events — so they can join, record attendance, and receive certificates with minimal manual work on your part.
Step 5 (Optional): Sync CEU Events registrants into Zoom
To save attendees from having to register a second time in Zoom, you can import your CEU Events registrants directly into Zoom:
- Download the CSV of pre-registered attendees from CEU Events: Events → Your Event → Download button at the bottom right of the attendee list. See Download the Event Data (Instructors).
- Edit the CSV to keep only these columns: Email, First Name, Last Name. Save the file.
- In Zoom: Webinars → Your Webinar → Invitations → Manage Attendees → Import from CSV.
- Check Send invitation after importing, then click Import and upload the CSV.
Zoom automatically registers your attendees for the webinar. They won't have to manually register — Zoom sends them their unique join link directly.
You can repeat this process daily as new attendees register through CEU Events. For additional automation, configure reminder emails in Admin → Account Management → Webinar Settings.
During the event
- Because you required registration, you'll be able to run a Zoom attendance report after the event — reducing post-event stress and letting you focus on presenting.
- Have the CEU Events Paperless Attendance Slide ready at the end of your presentation with the Event Code displayed. See Use the CEU Events Paperless Attendance Slide and Find the Event Code.
- Pause at the slide and walk attendees through recording their attendance at www.ceuevents.com/attendance.
For broader during-event guidance, see During Your Event (Instructors) and Best Practices for Webinar Presenters.
After the event
- Run the Zoom attendance report. Go to Admin → Account Management → Reports → Attendance Report in Zoom. Download the report.
- Compare the Zoom report with your CEU Events attendee list. Identify everyone who participated.
- Mark verified attendees as Attended in CEU Events. See Mark Attendees as Attended.
- Issue certificates. Once attendees are marked Attended, send the Certificate is ready notification to inform them. See Issue a Certificate of Completion.
For the broader post-event checklist, see Follow Up After Your Event (Instructors).
Best practices
- Always require registration in Zoom. Without it, you won't get a reliable attendance report after the event.
- Use the CSV import workflow. Saving attendees the second registration step in Zoom makes the experience seamless and significantly reduces no-shows.
- Set Approval to Automatically Approve. Manual approval introduces friction; automatic approval means attendees can join immediately.
- Enable polls for engagement. Periodic polls keep attendees active throughout the session.
- Practice with Zoom's Practice Session feature. Walk through your presentation in advance to test your audio, screen share, and any pre-loaded polls.
- Cross-reference attendance reports diligently. Zoom's attendance report is your source of truth for who actually participated — use it to confirm your CEU Events records are complete.
Troubleshooting
- The CSV import isn't working in Zoom. Confirm the CSV has exactly the right columns (Email, First Name, Last Name) and that there are no extra columns or formatting issues. Re-save the file as a clean CSV.
- Your Zoom attendance report shows fewer attendees than expected. Zoom only counts attendees who logged in via their registered link. If attendees joined under a different name or via a shared link, they may not appear in the report — but they should still have recorded their attendance via the CEU Events Paperless Attendance Slide.
- Some attendees joined the webinar but didn't record attendance. Send them the per-event Attendance Recording Guide so they can self-record. See Use the Attendance Recording Guide.
